Terms of Service

Welcome to HelPets. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the HelPets mobile application and the website helpets.ma (collectively, “the Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. About the Service

HelPets is a community platform that connects pet owners, rescuers, shelters, and animal lovers in Morocco and worldwide. The Service allows users to:

• Post SOS alerts about animals in danger
• Report lost or found pets
• List animals available for adoption
• Communicate with other users via real-time chat
• Participate in community discussions

HelPets is a platform that facilitates connections between users. We are not a shelter, veterinary service, animal rescue organization, or emergency service. We do not provide animal care, medical treatment, transportation, or emergency response.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use HelPets. By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly allow users under 13 to create accounts.

3. Account Registration

• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• You may not create multiple accounts, impersonate another person, or share your account
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account

4. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of the content you create on HelPets (photos, posts, comments, messages). By posting content, you grant HelPets a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and use that content within the Service for the purpose of operating the platform. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content already shared with other users (e.g., chat messages already delivered).

You represent and warrant that:

• You own or have the right to share any content you post
• Your content does not violate any third party’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
• Your content is accurate and not misleading

5. Acceptable Use & Conduct

You agree to use HelPets responsibly. You must NOT:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information about animals
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Post content that promotes animal cruelty, violence, or illegal activities
• Use the Service to sell animals for profit or engage in unauthorized commercial activity
• Post spam, promotional content, or unsolicited messages
• Impersonate another person, organization, or shelter
• Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service
• Collect or harvest data about other users without their consent
• Post content that violates Moroccan law or the laws of your country
• Share personal information of other users without their explicit consent

6. Prohibited Content

You may not post content that:

• Is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or offensive
• Contains hate speech or discrimination
• Depicts or promotes animal abuse or cruelty
• Contains nudity, sexually explicit material, or violence
• Infringes on copyright or other intellectual property rights
• Contains malware, viruses, or harmful code
• Is designed to deceive or defraud other users

7. SOS Alerts & Emergency Situations

HelPets is NOT an emergency service. Do not rely on the app as your primary means of getting help in life-threatening situations.

The SOS feature is a community alert system that notifies nearby users about animals in danger. Response times depend on community members’ availability and cannot be guaranteed. For serious veterinary emergencies, contact a local veterinarian or animal welfare organization directly.

HelPets is not responsible for any harm, injury, or loss resulting from reliance on SOS alerts or any other content on the platform.

8. In-Person Meetings & Safety

HelPets is not responsible for interactions that occur outside the platform, including in-person meetings between users. When meeting other users for adoption, rescue, or pet reunification:

• Meet in public, well-lit locations
• Bring a friend or inform someone of your plans
• Verify the identity of the other person
• Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave
• Never share sensitive personal information like home address or financial details

9. Content Moderation

We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor, review, and remove content that violates these Terms or is otherwise inappropriate. Moderation decisions are made at our sole discretion.

Users can report violations through the in-app reporting feature or by emailing helpets20@gmail.com. We will review reports and take appropriate action.

10. Intellectual Property

The HelPets name, logo, app design, source code, and all related trademarks are the exclusive property of HelPets. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on our intellectual property without explicit written permission.

11. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior, or for any other reason at our discretion.

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by emailing helpets20@gmail.com. Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease, and your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HelPets shall not be liable for:

• The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of user-posted content
• The health, condition, or legal status of animals listed on the platform
• Any disputes, transactions, or interactions between users
• Any harm arising from in-person meetings facilitated by the platform
• Service interruptions, data loss, or unauthorized access to your account
• Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HelPets, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party’s rights.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Morocco, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Rabat, Morocco.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
